More than just your average coffee shop, this spine-tingling spot at 12764 California St Suite A dives deep into a frightfully immersive atmosphere, where the love for all things spooky perfectly blends with a passion for exceptional coffee craftsmanship.
From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a dark, eerie ambiance alive with lifelike horror movie icons—Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Linda Blair—and an array of screens playing classic and cult horror films that set the perfect chill-running-down-your-spine vibe. The decor isn’t just visual; it’s part of the narrative that draws you into a playful yet genuinely immersive world of fright and flavor.
But what truly captivates here is the menu, an inventive collection of chillingly named beverages that are as delicious as they are creatively conceived. Whether you're craving an Iced Coffee with smooth, rich notes, a velvety Freddy's Nightmare Fog—a cold brew crowned with luscious red velvet cold foam—or the intriguingly smooth Skinny Witch Sugar Free Mint Latte, there is a drink to enchant every palate.
If you’re in the mood for something refreshingly sweet and whimsically named, the Shark Water lemonade, bursting with tangy blue raspberry syrup, is a fan favorite celebrated by visitors like Michelle Ramirez for its perfect balance of sweetness and zest. The killer teas such as Mental Mango and Dark Mistress offer vibrant, aromatic escapes perfect for those looking to dive into something different but equally satisfying.
Customers repeatedly praise the impeccable quality of the blended coffees here—meticulously crafted without a single ice chunk, resulting in an incredibly smooth, rich experience. As one guest, K, describes, these drinks are so tasty they keep them coming back for more, enhancing the thrill of the spooky ambiance with every sip.
What truly sets Roast The Dead Coffee apart is its authentic, family-run charm. Paul Verschueren’s reflection on the passionate couple behind the scenes highlights the sincere dedication poured into both the drinks and the haunting atmosphere—she expertly crafts sumptuous coffee while he conjures the spine-chilling environment. This combination creates an inviting yet thrilling spot that feels both personal and extraordinarily unique.

It’s a destination where the eerie meets the extraordinary, making every visit memorable and every drink a thrilling delight.
What a spooky place! We loved how dark and horror-filled this place was. Several tvs play horror movies, lots of props, and staff were super nice. Best part was the coffee! They make some excellent blended coffees with no ice chunks in them. Ours were so tasty! We’ll definitely go back and try more.
This horror themed coffee store is an absolute unique gem. Dark, spooky and fully immersive with creepy decor! The drinks are themed impressively. I like to bring friends who's new to town to this place.
Roast the Dead Coffee – Yucaipa, California St. Stumbled into a little gem today. Roast the Dead Coffee in Yucaipa. It’s run by a young couple taking their shot, building something real, and it shows in every corner of that place. She’s behind the bar making the coffee. He’s building the whole horror vibe around her. And they nailed it. Life-size Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Linda Blair, the whole crew. It feels like a horror fan’s dream garage brought to life. It’s small — only eight people allowed inside at a time, and there isn’t much seating. But you’re not going for chairs. You’re going for the experience. And here’s the thing: even if you’re not in Yucaipa, I’d make the trip. I don’t live in Yucaipa. I drove twenty miles out there to meet a friend. We thought we were just walking into a regular coffee shop. We were wrong. It’s way more than that. I loved talking movies with them. They’ve got opinions, passion, and the guts to build something different when most places copy each other. If you’re anywhere near the area, go support them. It’s absolutely worth the stop.
Great Spot. Perfect time of the year to go and get an awesome drink while being able to see very cool horror movie decorations. Had the Shark waters lemonade. It was sweet, tangly and refreshing. Loved the blue raspberry syrup
Roast the Dead Coffee is a fun, unique place to visit if you like scary movies! My favorite is the life-like Michael Meyers and all the different TV's showing different horror movies. My husband and I each tried a different seasonal cold brew with cold foam toppers. Both looked awesome and tasted fantastic!! Can't wait to visit again.
So far out of all the horror themed coffee shop I’ve been to, this one wins! Nice and dark inside, immersive theming, horror movies playing, it almost feels like being in a haunted house without the jump scares. I normally get matcha, but tried a Swamp Thing instead and it might be the best flavored iced tea I’ve ever had! Paired well with the sandwich I got from Monstrous Sub Shop down the street. Hopefully I get the chance to visit their Riverside location too!
This cafe has a creepy yet cool ambiance and amazing staff and even better coffee. Love the interior design; really takes you to Halloween land. As for the coffee, I got a regular hot latte, and it tasted exactly how I like it. I could not recommend this cafe enough!! Check them out FAST!!
My partner introduced me to this place, and I can highly recommend any of the fogs and the teas. You may have a bit of a wait due to the number of people allowed at a time (8 or a large group), but it’s well worth it. The atmosphere is excellent for year-round spooky season. My partner also has said it is also an autistic friendly space for them.
